DMK Allies Back Vijay Government Claim

DMK allies have urged Tamil Nadu Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar to invite TVK chief Vijay to form the government, saying the single largest party should be given a chance to prove its majority on the Assembly floor.

DMK Allies Urge Governor To Invite Vijay

Leaders from the VCK and Left parties have said the Governor should invite Vijay to form the government after TVK emerged as the single largest party in the Tamil Nadu Assembly election.

They argued that Vijay should be allowed to take oath and prove his majority through a floor test. Their position comes despite these parties being part of the DMK-led alliance during the election.

TVK Majority Claim Faces Governor Test

TVK won 108 seats in the 234-member Assembly, falling short of the 118-seat majority mark. The Congress, with five MLAs, has already extended support to TVK, but Vijay still needs additional backing to comfortably prove majority.

The Governor has reportedly asked TVK to show clear proof of support before moving ahead with government formation. This has triggered debate over whether the single largest party should first be invited and then tested on the floor of the House.

Tamil Nadu Government Formation Uncertainty Continues

The VCK and Left parties’ statements have added a new layer to Tamil Nadu’s post-poll uncertainty. While they have urged the Governor to invite Vijay, their final decision on extending formal support to TVK remains politically significant.

The DMK has said it will watch TVK’s government formation attempt without immediate obstruction. With the AIADMK ruling out support and smaller parties now in focus, Tamil Nadu’s next government depends on whether Vijay can secure the required numbers.
