Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has accused the BJP-led government of avoiding accountability after the deadly Satya Niketan building collapse in Delhi, arguing that repeated civic disasters point to failures in prevention and governance.

The Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha said Delhi now has what he called a “triple-engine” government and questioned why serious safety failures continue despite the BJP holding power at multiple levels.
Gandhi alleged that the government follows a recurring pattern in which preventive action is inadequate, political statements follow major accidents and responsibility is eventually placed on lower-level officials rather than senior authorities.
He said the problem reflected a lack of political intent and argued that without accountability, similar incidents would continue.
Satya Niketan Collapse Leaves Seven Dead
Gandhi’s remarks came a day after a five-storey building housing students near Delhi University’s South Campus collapsed in Satya Niketan, killing seven people.
Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the collapse, including the condition of the ageing structure and renovation work being carried out in the building.
Gandhi also referred to previous incidents in Saidulajab and Hauz Rani while arguing that the Satya Niketan tragedy was not an isolated case.
Rahul Gandhi Targets Modi Over ‘Dimagi Naxal’ Remark
Gandhi further criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for using expressions such as “dimagi Naxal” and “naraaz phoopha”, alleging that such language is intended to discredit people who question the government.
He accused the Centre of focusing on broader political narratives while failing to address basic issues affecting citizens.
The Delhi government has announced action following the collapse, while investigations into possible negligence and building safety violations are continuing.
