VCK To Decide Soon On TVK Support
VCK leader Thol Thirumavalavan has said his party has received a request from Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam for support in forming the Tamil Nadu government and will take a decision soon.
VCK Receives TVK Support Request
Thirumavalavan said TVK had sent a formal request letter seeking VCK’s support. He said the party had not ignored Vijay’s request and would examine the issue through its internal process.
The VCK leader said the party’s high-level committee would meet soon to discuss the merits and demerits of supporting TVK in the current political situation.
Vijay Still Short Of Majority
TVK won 108 seats in the 234-member Tamil Nadu Assembly and emerged as the single largest party. However, Vijay’s party remains short of the 118-seat majority mark.
The Congress, which has five MLAs, has already extended support to TVK. Even with Congress backing, TVK still needs additional support to prove majority. Vijay will also have to resign from one of the two constituencies he won.
Thirumavalavan Urges Governor To Invite Vijay
Thirumavalavan also urged the Tamil Nadu Governor to invite Vijay to form the government, saying it was a constitutional right and reflected the people’s verdict.
His statement comes as the Governor has reportedly asked TVK to prove majority support before Vijay can take oath. With VCK now considering TVK’s request, the party’s decision could become crucial in Tamil Nadu’s government formation process.
