Door-To-Door Census Listing Begins In NCR

Door-to-door house listing for Census 2027 has started across parts of the National Capital Region, covering around 20 lakh homes. Enumerators will visit households to collect housing and basic household details as part of the first phase of the national census exercise.

Census 2027 House Listing Starts In NCR

The house listing operation is the first major field stage of Census 2027. In this phase, trained enumerators collect details related to homes, household facilities and basic living conditions.

The exercise will help create the framework for the next stage of population enumeration. Officials have urged residents to cooperate with census workers and provide accurate information during the visit.

20 Lakh Homes To Be Covered In NCR

Around 20 lakh homes in NCR are expected to be covered under the door-to-door listing exercise. The field operation comes after a limited response to the online self-enumeration option, with only around 52,000 households in NCR reportedly choosing the digital route.

The low self-enumeration numbers mean physical visits by enumerators will remain central to data collection in the region.

Census Data To Support Policy Planning

The house listing phase is important for updating India’s housing and household database after a long gap since the last national census in 2011.

The data collected will support planning for housing, welfare schemes, infrastructure, health services, education and urban development. Census 2027 is being conducted in phases, with house listing preceding the full population enumeration exercise.
