Watch :: India Slams Pakistan at UN for Supporting Terrorism and Human Rights Violations
27 September 2024 – UN General Assembly, New York: During the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), India delivered a strong rebuttal to Pakistan’s allegations, condemning its neighbor for its history of sponsoring cross-border terrorism and its lack of democratic integrity.
Pakistan’s Global Reputation for Terrorism and Crime
India’s representative criticized Pakistan’s attempt to malign the world’s largest democracy, asserting that a country with a track record of terrorism, narcotics trade, and transnational crime had no standing to lecture others. India highlighted numerous instances of cross-border attacks orchestrated by Pakistan, including the assault on the Indian Parliament, the 2008 Mumbai attacks, and various other violent incidents targeting civilians.
Condemning Pakistan’s Double Standards on Violence
Refuting Pakistan’s claims, India emphasized the hypocrisy of a nation with a history of rigged elections commenting on political choices in other democracies. India stressed that Pakistan has consistently sought to undermine the electoral process in Jammu and Kashmir through terrorism, calling it an “inalienable and integral part of India.”
No Negotiation with Terrorism
India dismissed Pakistan’s mention of “strategic restraint,” stating that there could be no agreements made with a country that uses terrorism as a policy tool. The Indian delegation warned that cross-border terrorism would inevitably invite consequences and cautioned Pakistan to refrain from such actions.
Criticism of Human Rights Violations
The Indian representative also drew attention to Pakistan’s human rights record, including the genocide of 1971 and ongoing persecution of minorities, which disqualify it from commenting on intolerance and religious freedom elsewhere.
Pakistan’s History with Global Terrorism
Highlighting Pakistan’s deep-rooted connection to global terrorism, India referenced the country’s past in providing safe haven to Osama Bin Laden and its involvement in numerous terrorist incidents worldwide. India condemned Pakistan’s continued support for terror networks, which attracts dangerous elements from around the world to find sanctuary within its borders.
India’s Stance at the UNGA
India concluded by affirming its clear stance against terrorism and rejecting Pakistan’s false narratives. “Repetition will change nothing. Our stand is clear and needs no reiteration,” India’s representative stated, urging the global community to recognize Pakistan’s true nature.
This forceful response underscores India’s firm position on maintaining its sovereignty and combating terrorism, while also calling out Pakistan’s duplicity on the international stage.
