Baloch Rebels Claim Gwadar Suicide Attack
Baloch separatist militants have claimed responsibility for a suicide bombing targeting a Pakistan Coast Guards camp in Gwadar, saying more than 30 personnel were killed, though the claim has not been independently verified.
Baloch Rebels Claim Gwadar Suicide Attack
The Baloch Liberation Army said its Majeed Brigade carried out the attack in the Panwan area of Jiwani in Gwadar district on July 3. The group claimed that an explosive-laden vehicle was driven into a Pakistan Coast Guards camp before being detonated.
The separatist group alleged that more than 30 Pakistani security personnel were killed and several others injured in the attack. However, there was no independent confirmation of the casualty figure at the time of reporting.
Pakistan Coast Guards Camp Targeted
Gwadar is a strategically important port city in Balochistan and remains a sensitive security zone because of its links to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor. The region has witnessed repeated attacks on security forces, infrastructure and projects linked to foreign investment.
The latest attack, if confirmed, would mark another serious escalation in the long-running Baloch insurgency. Separatist groups in Balochistan have accused Pakistan of exploiting the province’s natural resources while denying locals political and economic rights.
Balochistan Violence Continues To Escalate
The Baloch Liberation Army has carried out several high-profile attacks in recent years, often targeting Pakistani security forces and Chinese-linked interests. Pakistan has designated the group as a terrorist organisation and has intensified security operations across the province.
Authorities are expected to assess the scale of damage and casualties following the Gwadar attack. The incident once again highlights the fragile security situation in Balochistan, where militant violence continues despite repeated counter-insurgency operations.
