PM Modi Opens Jodhpur Airport Terminal
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the new terminal building at Jodhpur Airport on Saturday, marking a major upgrade to aviation infrastructure in Rajasthan.
Jodhpur Airport New Terminal Inaugurated
The new terminal building at Jodhpur Airport has been built at a cost of around ₹480 crore. The facility is designed to improve passenger handling, airport operations and travel convenience for people using the key western Rajasthan airport.
The upgraded terminal is expected to handle up to 20 lakh passengers annually, significantly expanding the airport’s capacity. The project is also aimed at supporting rising air traffic from Jodhpur and nearby regions.
Rajasthan Aviation Infrastructure Gets Boost
The Jodhpur airport terminal is expected to strengthen regional connectivity and support tourism in Rajasthan. Jodhpur, one of the state’s major tourist destinations, attracts domestic and international visitors for its heritage sites, desert tourism and cultural attractions.
Improved airport capacity is likely to benefit passengers travelling to and from western Rajasthan, while also supporting business, hospitality and local economic activity. The project forms part of the government’s wider push to modernise airport infrastructure across India.
Modified UDAN Scheme Launched
During the visit, the Prime Minister also launched the Modified UDAN scheme, aimed at further expanding regional air connectivity and making air travel more accessible.
The scheme is expected to support smaller airports, improve connectivity to underserved regions and encourage airlines to operate on regional routes. The government has been focusing on airport expansion, improved passenger facilities and affordable air travel as part of its broader infrastructure agenda.
The Jodhpur terminal inauguration comes alongside a larger set of development projects in Rajasthan, covering sectors such as transport, petrochemicals, railways, roads, renewable energy and power transmission.
