V.D. Satheesan Sworn In As Kerala Chief Minister
V.D. Satheesan was sworn in as the new Chief Minister of Kerala at a ceremony held at the Central Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram, marking the return of the Congress-led United Democratic Front to power after 10 years.
V.D. Satheesan Takes Oath As Kerala CM
Satheesan took oath as Chief Minister in the presence of senior political leaders, alliance partners and supporters. His swearing-in formally ends the Left Democratic Front’s decade-long rule in Kerala and begins a new UDF government in the State.
The Congress leader had earlier served as Leader of the Opposition in the Kerala Assembly and emerged as the UDF’s chief ministerial face after the alliance’s election victory.
UDF Government Returns In Kerala
The formation of the new government is a major political shift in Kerala, where power has traditionally alternated between the UDF and LDF. The UDF’s return is being seen as a significant mandate against the outgoing Left government.
Alliance partners, including the Indian Union Muslim League, are expected to play an important role in the new Cabinet. Portfolio allocation and governance priorities will be closely watched in the coming days.
Kerala Cabinet And Governance Priorities
The new Satheesan-led government is expected to focus on employment, welfare delivery, infrastructure, education, health and investment-driven growth. The administration will also face early pressure to manage coalition expectations while delivering on poll promises.
Satheesan’s immediate challenge will be to convert the UDF’s electoral win into stable governance and maintain coordination among Congress leaders and alliance partners.
