PM Modi Reaches Norway For Nordic Summit
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is visiting Norway on May 18-19 for bilateral engagements and the 3rd India-Nordic Summit in Oslo, marking the first Indian Prime Ministerial visit to Norway in 43 years.
PM Modi Norway Visit
During the Norway visit, PM Modi is scheduled to call on King Harald V and Queen Sonja and hold bilateral talks with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre. The visit is expected to review the progress in India-Norway relations and identify new areas of cooperation.
Both sides are likely to focus on trade, investment, clean energy, green technology, maritime cooperation and the blue economy.
India Norway Trade And Investment
India and Norway are expected to explore ways to build on the India-EFTA Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement. The visit comes at a time when both countries are looking to deepen economic cooperation and improve business links.
India-Norway bilateral trade stood at around $2.73 billion in 2024, while Norway’s Government Pension Fund Global has invested nearly $28 billion in Indian capital markets. PM Modi is also expected to address the India-Norway Business and Research Summit with the Norwegian Prime Minister.
India Nordic Summit In Oslo
The 3rd India-Nordic Summit will bring together leaders from India, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Iceland and Sweden. The summit is expected to focus on technology, innovation, renewable energy, sustainability, defence, space, Arctic cooperation and resilient supply chains.
The Norway leg is part of PM Modi’s wider five-nation tour covering the UAE, the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway and Italy, with trade, investment and regional stability among the key priorities.
