Russia Threatens UK Targets Over Ukraine Missiles
Russia has warned that it could strike British military facilities and equipment inside Ukraine and elsewhere if Kyiv continues using UK-supplied Storm Shadow missiles to attack Russian territory. The warning marks one of Moscow’s strongest direct threats against Britain during the war.
Russia Threatens UK Military Targets
Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said British military installations and equipment could become targets in response to Ukrainian strikes carried out with British weapons.
She accused London of moving closer to what Moscow considers direct complicity in attacks against Russian civilians and warned of potentially serious consequences if Britain continues its current military support for Kyiv.
Russia’s statements represent a threat from Moscow and do not indicate that any decision to strike targets on British territory has been taken.
Storm Shadow Missiles Fuel Russia-UK Tensions
The warning followed Russian allegations that Ukraine used British-made Storm Shadow cruise missiles in an attack on a shopping centre in Russian-controlled Donetsk that injured civilians, including children.
Ukraine and Russia have repeatedly accused each other of attacks affecting civilians during the conflict, while both deny deliberately targeting civilian populations.
Tensions have also intensified after Britain agreed to provide Ukraine access to technology needed to manufacture Storm Shadow missiles domestically. France has approved similar technology sharing involving the jointly developed weapon.
Britain Maintains Military Support for Ukraine
The Kremlin has accused Britain of escalating the conflict by expanding Ukraine’s ability to produce and deploy long-range weapons.
British Prime Minister Andy Burnham has rejected Russian threats and maintained that London will continue supporting Ukraine’s defence.
The latest exchange further increases tensions between Russia and NATO as Western countries deepen military cooperation with Kyiv and Ukraine expands its ability to strike targets far behind Russian lines.
