US Sanctions Firms Aiding Iran Weapons Sector
The United States has imposed sanctions on 10 individuals and companies accused of helping Iran obtain weapons and raw materials for its drone and missile programmes. The action comes as Washington increases pressure on Tehran amid the continuing Iran war and tensions around the Strait of Hormuz.
US Targets Iran Weapons Procurement Network
The U.S. Treasury said the sanctioned entities helped Iran secure weapons, drone components and materials used in ballistic missiles. The network allegedly included companies and individuals operating across China, Hong Kong, Dubai, Belarus and Iran.
China And Hong Kong Firms Face Sanctions
Several China and Hong Kong-based firms were named in the sanctions list for allegedly helping Iran’s procurement efforts. The Treasury said these companies acted as intermediaries or suppliers for Iran-linked weapons activity.
Iran Drone And Missile Programme In Focus
The sanctions specifically target support for Iran’s Shahed drone production and ballistic missile supply chain. Washington has accused Iran of trying to rebuild and sustain its military industrial capacity despite international pressure.
US Warns Foreign Companies
The U.S. also warned that foreign companies supporting illicit Iranian trade could face further action. Officials said Washington may use additional economic measures, including secondary sanctions, against entities helping Iran’s defence sector.
