Assam Man Returned By Bangladesh Authorities
The man has been identified as Ranjit Das, a resident of Cachar district in Assam. He had reportedly gone to collect grass from land near the international border on Tuesday morning when he went missing.
Local residents alleged that Das was taken away by a group of Bangladeshi nationals from an area described as Indian territory beyond the border fence. The incident led to tension in the border village, prompting authorities on both sides to intervene.
India Bangladesh Border Incident In Cachar
Das was handed over to Indian authorities at around 10 pm on Tuesday by Border Guard Bangladesh. The return came after communication between border officials following the alleged abduction.
The area where the incident took place is close to the Zero Point zone along the India-Bangladesh border. Such locations often fall near the border fence but may include patches of Indian territory outside the fencing, making local movement sensitive.
Border Tension And Flag Meeting
In a separate development, nine suspected illegal immigrants from Bangladesh were reportedly stranded in no-man’s-land near the India-Bangladesh border in Assam’s South Salmara-Mankachar district.
A flag meeting was held between border forces to resolve the issue. Authorities are expected to continue monitoring the border area to prevent further tension and ensure civilian safety along sensitive stretches.
