Putin To Meet Iran Foreign Minister

Russian President Vladimir Putin is set to meet Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in Moscow as diplomatic efforts continue to end the ongoing US-Iran conflict.

Putin-Araghchi Meeting In Moscow

The Kremlin confirmed that Putin would meet Araghchi on Monday, with Russian state media citing spokesman Dmitry Peskov. Russia’s foreign ministry had earlier said that the Iranian foreign minister would travel to Moscow for talks.

The visit comes as Tehran intensifies diplomatic outreach after recent discussions involving Pakistan and Oman failed to produce a clear breakthrough in efforts to restart negotiations with Washington.

Russia-Iran Ties Gain Importance

Russia and Iran have grown closer in recent years, with both countries facing heavy Western sanctions. Moscow has maintained diplomatic engagement with Tehran and has repeatedly criticised Western pressure on Iran.

The meeting gives Iran another major diplomatic channel as it seeks support from regional and global partners during the conflict. Russia’s role is being closely watched because of its strategic ties with Iran and its opposition to US-led pressure campaigns.

US-Iran Diplomacy Remains Stalled

The development comes as US President Donald Trump said Iran could directly contact the United States if it wanted talks. Trump also cancelled a planned visit by envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner to Pakistan, adding uncertainty to the negotiation track.

Iran has continued to insist that talks cannot take place under military pressure. Araghchi’s Moscow visit signals that Tehran is looking to strengthen diplomatic backing before deciding whether to re-engage with Washington.
