Israel Strikes Kill 12 In Gaza Amid Ceasefire

Israeli attacks killed at least 12 Palestinians across Gaza on Friday, according to medical sources, raising fresh concerns over continued violence despite the ceasefire announced last year.

Gaza Ceasefire Violations Continue

Medical sources in Gaza said Israeli forces carried out attacks in several parts of the enclave. The deadliest strike hit a police vehicle in Khan Younis, killing at least eight people, including three civilian bystanders.

A separate Israeli attack in Gaza City killed two police officers, while two others were killed when a house was bombed in Beit Lahiya in northern Gaza.

Israeli Strikes Target Gaza Police

Gaza’s Ministry of Interior accused Israel of targeting local police forces that are trying to restore security in civilian areas. The ministry said the Khan Younis strike took place after police personnel intervened to break up a local dispute.

The ministry urged the international community to act against the targeting of civilian police officers, saying they provide essential services to residents across Gaza.

Gaza Death Toll Rises After Truce

The ceasefire, brokered by US President Donald Trump, came into effect in October last year and reduced the intensity of Israeli bombardment. However, attacks have continued.

Gaza health authorities say at least 984 people have been killed and 2,235 injured since the ceasefire was announced. The overall death toll from the war has crossed 72,500, with more than 172,000 people injured.

Hamas condemned the latest attacks and said the escalation showed the failure of mediators and the international community to enforce the truce.
