Bengaluru On Alert Over Suspected Ebola Case
A suspected Ebola case has triggered a health alert in Bengaluru after a 28-year-old woman from Uganda was placed under medical isolation. Health authorities have said the case is only suspected at this stage, and no Ebola infection has been confirmed in India.
Suspected Ebola Case In Bengaluru
The woman reportedly arrived in Bengaluru from Uganda on May 23 and was later shifted to an isolation facility after showing mild symptoms. Samples have been collected and sent for confirmatory testing as part of the standard public health protocol.
Officials have placed the patient under observation while awaiting laboratory results. Authorities have stressed that the isolation is a precautionary step and not confirmation of an Ebola case.
Karnataka Health Alert And Surveillance
Karnataka has already strengthened surveillance following the Ebola outbreak reported in parts of Africa. Health teams have been instructed to monitor travellers arriving from affected countries and ensure early detection of any suspected symptoms.
Isolation and quarantine facilities have been identified in Bengaluru and Mangaluru. Officials have also increased coordination with airports and points of entry to prevent any possible spread.
Ebola Symptoms And Precautions
Ebola is a serious viral disease that can cause fever, weakness, muscle pain, sore throat, vomiting, diarrhoea and bleeding in severe cases. It spreads through direct contact with infected body fluids, contaminated materials or unsafe medical handling.
Health authorities have advised travellers from affected countries to monitor their health for 21 days after arrival. People have also been urged not to panic and to rely only on official health updates until test results are confirmed.
