Bengaluru Metro Phase 3 Set For Approval

The Centre is set to approve Bengaluru’s Namma Metro Phase 3 project, which will include two new corridors and a double-decker infrastructure plan aimed at improving connectivity across key parts of the city.

Bengaluru Namma Metro Phase 3 Approval

Namma Metro Phase 3 is expected to move forward with central approval for two major corridors covering nearly 45 km. The project will expand metro connectivity across areas that currently face heavy road congestion and rising commuter demand.

The first corridor will run from JP Nagar 4th Phase to Kempapura along the Outer Ring Road. The second corridor will connect Hosahalli to Kadabagere along Magadi Road.

Double Decker Metro Corridor Planned

A key feature of Phase 3 will be the double-decker structure, where metro lines and road flyovers are planned on the same alignment in select sections. This design is expected to optimise limited urban space while addressing both public transport and road traffic requirements.

The double-decker model is being considered for parts of the Outer Ring Road corridor, one of Bengaluru’s busiest stretches. The project is expected to improve east-west and north-west connectivity in the city.

Namma Metro Expansion In Bengaluru

The Phase 3 expansion will add to Bengaluru’s growing metro network and support the city’s long-term mobility plan. Once approved and implemented, the new corridors are expected to benefit daily commuters, reduce pressure on road traffic and improve access to residential and commercial areas.

The project also reflects the city’s continued push toward mass rapid transit as Bengaluru deals with rapid urban growth and severe congestion.
