Pakistani Drone Spotted Near J&K LoC, Alert Raised
Security forces along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir have been placed on high alert after a suspected Pakistani drone was detected over the Behrooti area on Friday evening. Troops tracked the unmanned aerial vehicle before it moved back towards Pakistan, prompting intensified surveillance and search operations.
Pakistani Drone Spotted Near Line of Control
The drone was detected at around 8.05 pm on August 28 over Behrooti village in the Balakote-Mendhar sector near the Line of Control.
Military personnel monitored the UAV as it moved towards the Mangalnar-Dabrote axis. Officials said the aircraft subsequently returned towards the Pakistani side of the border.
The incident was immediately recorded by troops deployed in the forward area, following which aerial and ground surveillance was strengthened across the sector.
Security Forces Launch Search Operation
Security personnel began searching adjoining forward areas to determine whether the drone had dropped weapons, ammunition, narcotics or other suspicious material before returning across the LoC.
Counter-drone systems and surveillance assets remain active as forces monitor the border for further aerial activity or possible infiltration attempts.
No recovery of weapons or contraband linked to Friday’s drone sighting had been officially announced when the latest information was released.
Drone Activity Raises Security Concerns in J&K
The latest incident follows other suspected drone movements reported along the Jammu and Kashmir border in recent weeks.
Security agencies have increasingly focused on cross-border drones because such UAVs have previously been used for surveillance and for transporting weapons, narcotics and other material across difficult border terrain.
Separate search operations have also been underway in parts of Rajouri, Udhampur and Kathua following reports of suspicious movement, keeping security forces on heightened alert across the Jammu region.
