Karnataka Raises PUC Testing Fees From August 15
The Karnataka government has revised Pollution Under Control (PUC) testing charges across the state, increasing fees for two-wheelers, autorickshaws, petrol and CNG cars, and diesel vehicles. The new rates came into effect on August 15, 2026.
Karnataka PUC Testing Fees Revised
Under the revised fee structure, two-wheeler owners will now pay ₹80 for a PUC test, up from ₹65. Autorickshaw testing charges have also increased to ₹80 from the earlier ₹75.
Owners of petrol, LPG and CNG-powered cars will have to pay ₹150, compared with the previous fee of ₹115. Diesel vehicle owners face the highest charge, with the testing fee increasing from ₹160 to ₹200.
New Pollution Certificate Charges From August 15
The Karnataka government issued the order on August 13 following a proposal from the Transport Commissioner and Commissioner for Road Safety.
The revision followed representations from emission testing centre operators seeking higher fees due to rising operational expenses. Increased costs related to fuel, rent, electricity, equipment maintenance, printer supplies and employee salaries were cited among the reasons for the hike.
Only authorised computerised pollution testing centres are permitted to collect the revised charges.
Karnataka PUC Centres Face New Requirements
The order also requires pollution testing centres to employ qualified personnel and periodically recalibrate gas analysers used during emission tests. Details of the latest recalibration must be displayed at testing centres.
The revised charges will apply to motorists obtaining or renewing their vehicle pollution certificates across Karnataka.
