Bengaluru Guard Held Over Alleged TTP Links
Bengaluru Police have arrested a 25-year-old security guard from West Bengal over alleged links with the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). Investigators allege that he was in contact with a TTP member based in Afghanistan and had discussed plans related to attacks targeting the Pakistan Army.
Bengaluru Security Guard Held Over TTP Links
The accused, identified as Asaful Mallick, is from North 24 Parganas district in West Bengal and was reportedly working as a security guard in Bengaluru’s Bommasandra industrial area.
Police took him into custody following intelligence inputs and subsequently examined his mobile phone and online activity as part of the investigation.
Investigators allege that Mallick had been sharing material linked to TTP ideology on social media and was attempting to establish closer contact with members of the organisation.
Police Probe Alleged Pakistan Army Attack Plan
According to investigators, Mallick had established contact with an Afghanistan-based TTP member identified as Imran Haider.
Police claim that his mobile phone contained chats, voice calls and other communications with the suspected operative. Investigators are examining whether these exchanges involved plans for attacks targeting Pakistan Army personnel.
Mallick is also alleged to have expressed interest in joining the TTP and explored the possibility of travelling to Afghanistan. His travel plans reportedly did not materialise due to financial and family-related constraints.
Bengaluru Police Investigate Terror Links
Police are now examining the accused’s electronic communications, social media activity and contacts to determine the extent of his alleged association with the banned organisation.
A case has been registered under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita dealing with conspiracy, preparation, facilitation or abetment connected to terrorist acts. Further investigation is underway.
