US Strikes Iran’s Chabahar Port
The United States has struck Iran’s Chabahar port and several other locations as Washington stepped up military action after President Donald Trump warned Tehran that further attacks would “get much worse.”
US Strikes Iran’s Chabahar Port
Iranian state media reported explosions in several southern locations, including Chabahar, Konarak, Bandar Abbas and Sirik.
The US military said the strikes were carried out to further weaken Iran’s ability to threaten freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz. Washington has accused Iran of attacking commercial ships near the key maritime route.
The latest strikes came after Trump posted footage of explosions and said the action was in retaliation for what he called Iran’s bombing of ships.
Trump Warns Iran Over Ship Attacks
Trump warned that if Iran carried out further attacks, the US response would be stronger. He said the strikes were linked to the previous day’s attacks on commercial vessels.
The US military said it had hit around 90 targets across Iran, including military sites, missile launchers, port facilities and other strategic locations.
Trump also said the temporary ceasefire understanding with Iran appeared to be over, though he indicated that negotiations could still continue.
Gulf Tensions Escalate Further
Iran responded by launching attacks toward Gulf Arab states hosting US military facilities, including Bahrain and Kuwait. Air defence systems were activated in parts of the region as missile and drone alerts were reported.
Chabahar is strategically important because of its location on the Gulf of Oman and its role in regional trade and connectivity.
The latest escalation has raised fresh concerns over maritime security, energy shipments and the possibility of a wider conflict in West Asia.
