Russia Launches Major Strike On Kyiv

Russia launched one of its heaviest overnight attacks on Kyiv this year, firing hundreds of drones and dozens of missiles at the Ukrainian capital. Ukrainian officials said at least 27 people were killed and more than 90 were injured, while rescue teams continued operations across damaged residential areas.

Russia Missile Drone Attack On Kyiv

Ukraine’s air force said Russia launched 496 drones and 74 missiles during the overnight assault. Air defence units reportedly intercepted or neutralised most of them, but several ballistic missiles and drones struck locations across Kyiv.

The attack caused major damage across the capital, including residential buildings, civilian facilities and public infrastructure. Ukrainian authorities said dozens of locations were hit, with fires and building collapses reported in multiple districts.

Kyiv Death Toll Rises After Strike

Kyiv officials said at least 27 people were killed and 91 others injured in the attack. The toll rose during rescue and recovery operations as emergency workers searched through rubble in damaged buildings.

The strike has been described by Ukrainian officials as one of the deadliest attacks on Kyiv this year. Several buildings, including apartment blocks, were damaged, and thousands of residents took shelter during the prolonged air raid.

Ukraine War Escalation Continues

Russia said the strike targeted military-related and energy-linked sites, while Ukraine said civilian areas suffered heavy damage. The attack comes amid continued escalation in the Russia-Ukraine war, with both sides reporting long-range strikes in recent weeks.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy renewed calls for stronger air defence support, saying delayed systems had left cities more exposed to missile and drone attacks. Kyiv declared a period of mourning after the strike.
