Trump Says Netanyahu Must Accept Iran Deal
U.S. President Donald Trump has said Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will have “no choice” but to accept any agreement Washington reaches with Iran, even as renewed missile exchanges threaten to derail fragile diplomacy in West Asia.
Trump On Netanyahu And Iran Deal
Trump said Netanyahu would have to accept a U.S.-brokered deal with Iran if negotiations succeed, adding that Washington would determine the direction of the process. His remarks signalled a more assertive American position as the White House tries to prevent a wider regional war.
The comments came after Iran launched ballistic missiles at Israel, raising fresh questions over whether diplomacy can survive the latest escalation.
US-Iran Talks Face Fresh Pressure
Trump said Iran’s missile attack had not changed his desire to complete negotiations with Tehran. He also indicated that he would urge Netanyahu not to retaliate further, arguing that continued strikes could damage the possibility of a broader deal.
The proposed agreement is expected to focus on reducing hostilities, addressing Iran’s regional role and stabilising the ceasefire framework that has come under pressure in recent days.
Israel-Iran Tensions Test Diplomacy
Israel has continued military action in response to Iranian-linked threats, while Iran has warned that further attacks on Lebanon or its allies could trigger stronger retaliation. The renewed confrontation has also affected oil markets and raised fears of disruption in the Strait of Hormuz.
Trump’s remarks highlight growing strain between Washington’s diplomatic push and Israel’s security approach. The next phase will depend on whether the U.S. can keep both Israel and Iran from widening the conflict.
