Trump Says Iran War May End Soon
US President Donald Trump has said the Iran conflict could end “very soon” if Tehran is willing to negotiate, while signalling that any talks could take place through direct or secure phone communication.
Trump Says Iran Can Call US For Talks
Speaking in a Fox News interview, Trump said Iran could contact the United States directly if it wanted to talk. He said secure communication lines were available and suggested that negotiations did not necessarily require long diplomatic travel.
Trump also claimed the United States would be “victorious,” while expressing confidence that the war could move toward an end if Iran showed willingness to engage.
US-Iran Talks Remain Uncertain
The remarks came after Trump cancelled a planned visit by US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner to Pakistan for potential discussions linked to Iran. The decision added uncertainty to efforts by regional mediators to restart negotiations.
Iranian diplomatic activity has continued through regional channels, including Pakistan and Oman. However, the gap between Washington and Tehran remains wide, especially over nuclear issues, security guarantees and the terms of any wider settlement.
Nuclear Issue Remains Central To Deal
Trump said nuclear matters would remain central to any future agreement with Iran. Washington has continued to demand limits on Iran’s nuclear programme, while Tehran has resisted pressure under military threat.
The comments suggest the US is leaving the door open for talks, but only on terms it considers favourable. For now, the conflict remains unresolved, with diplomacy dependent on whether Tehran chooses direct engagement or continues relying on mediators.
