Spain Beat France to Reach World Cup Final
Spain reached the FIFA World Cup 2026 final with a controlled 2-0 victory over France in their semi-final at Dallas Stadium in Texas. Goals from Mikel Oyarzabal and Pedro Porro secured La Roja’s first appearance in a World Cup final since their title-winning campaign in 2010.
Mikel Oyarzabal Opens Scoring for Spain
Spain took the lead in the 22nd minute after Lamine Yamal was fouled by Lucas Digne inside the penalty area. Oyarzabal converted the resulting spot kick to score his fifth goal of the tournament.
France struggled to establish their attacking rhythm despite fielding Kylian Mbappe, Ousmane Dembele and Michael Olise. Their problems increased when defender William Saliba was forced off through injury during the first half and replaced by Maxence Lacroix.
Spain controlled possession and prevented France from creating clear opportunities before the interval.
Pedro Porro Doubles Spain’s Advantage
Spain extended their lead in the 58th minute following a well-constructed attacking move. Dani Olmo combined with Pedro Porro, who finished the opportunity to make it 2-0.
The Spanish midfield maintained control of the match, while France failed to register a shot on target until the closing stages. Didier Deschamps introduced substitutes in an attempt to change the contest, but Spain’s organised defence protected the two-goal advantage.
Spain Reach FIFA World Cup 2026 Final
The victory extended Spain’s unbeaten run to 37 international matches, matching Italy’s European record. Luis de la Fuente’s team also recorded their sixth clean sheet in seven matches at the tournament.
Spain will face the winner of the England versus Argentina semi-final in the World Cup final on July 19. France will compete in the third-place playoff on July 18.
