Pakistan Accused Of Afghan Airstrikes
Afghanistan’s Taliban-led government has accused Pakistan of carrying out fresh cross-border airstrikes, claiming that 13 civilians, including 11 children, were killed. Pakistan has not officially confirmed the latest strikes.
Pakistan Airstrikes In Afghanistan
Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid said the alleged Pakistani airstrikes hit areas in Khost, Kunar and Paktika provinces. According to Afghan authorities, the strikes killed 13 people, including 11 children, one woman and one elderly man.
Mujahid also said 14 others were injured in the attacks. The Taliban-led administration condemned the strikes, calling them a violation of Afghan sovereignty and an attack on civilian areas.
Taliban Condemns Pakistan Attacks
The Taliban government warned that such attacks would not go unanswered, as tensions between Kabul and Islamabad continue to rise. Afghanistan has repeatedly accused Pakistan of launching military operations inside Afghan territory.
Pakistan has not issued an immediate confirmation of the latest strikes. Islamabad has previously accused Afghanistan of allowing Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan militants to operate from Afghan soil. Kabul has denied sheltering the group.
Afghanistan Pakistan Border Tensions
The latest incident comes amid sustained hostilities between the two neighbours. Cross-border clashes and airstrikes have continued despite earlier efforts to reduce tensions through diplomatic channels.
The Afghanistan-Pakistan border region has remained unstable since the Taliban returned to power in Kabul in 2021. Pakistan says militant attacks inside its territory have increased, while Afghanistan accuses Pakistan of violating its airspace and targeting civilians.
Further escalation could deepen the security crisis in the region and increase risks for civilians living in border provinces already affected by conflict.
