Hardik Pandya To Miss Afghanistan ODIs
India all-rounder Hardik Pandya is set to miss the upcoming three-match ODI series against Afghanistan after suffering a low-grade quadricep sprain. The setback delays his expected return to the ODI format after more than a year.
Hardik Pandya Injury Update
Hardik Pandya was expected to join the Shubman Gill-led Indian squad in Dharamsala on June 11. However, a late fitness issue has ruled him out of the Afghanistan ODIs.
The all-rounder had been training at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru since June 2 and was reportedly close to full fitness before the latest setback. Medical staff have advised him to avoid strain and weight-bearing activity for the next few days.
India Afghanistan ODI Series
Pandya’s absence is a significant blow for India ahead of the Afghanistan series, as he was expected to add balance to the squad with his pace bowling and lower-order batting.
He will remain in Bengaluru for at least two more weeks, where he will continue his recovery under the supervision of physiotherapists and trainers at the Centre of Excellence.
India Squad Replacement Decision
The Indian team management has been informed about Pandya’s injury. It remains unclear whether selectors will name a replacement for the 32-year-old all-rounder.
Some members of the ODI squad are scheduled to assemble in Mohali before travelling to Dharamsala. The team is expected to hold an optional training session before moving to the series venue.
Pandya’s recovery timeline will be closely monitored, especially with India’s broader ODI plans and workload management in focus.
