Noida Airport To Open From June 15

Noida International Airport in Jewar is expected to begin commercial operations from June 15, with IndiGo set to operate the first passenger flight. The airport is being developed as a major aviation hub for the National Capital Region and is expected to reduce pressure on Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport.

Noida International Airport Operations

The airport has received approval for its Aerodrome Security Programme from the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security. This clearance starts a mandatory 45-day process before commercial flight operations can begin.

Airport officials have started discussions with airlines for ticket bookings, flight schedules and slots. However, the exact date for opening ticket sales has not yet been finalised.

IndiGo To Operate First Flight

IndiGo will operate the first passenger flight from Noida International Airport. Akasa Air and Air India Express are also expected to begin services soon after the launch.

Initial domestic routes under discussion include Mumbai, Hyderabad and Kolkata. Air India Express is also planning twice-daily services between Noida and Bengaluru. International services are expected to begin a few months after domestic operations stabilise.

Jewar Airport Capacity And Connectivity

The first phase of Noida International Airport has been developed at an estimated cost of ₹11,200 crore under a public-private partnership model. It will have one runway and one terminal, with an annual passenger handling capacity of 12 million.

Once fully developed across four phases, the airport is expected to handle up to 70 million passengers every year. Its location along the Yamuna Expressway is expected to improve air connectivity for Noida, Greater Noida, western Uttar Pradesh and the wider NCR region.
