Rajnath Singh Warns Italy On Pakistan Defence Tech
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has urged Italy not to share sensitive defence technology with Pakistan, citing India’s security concerns and Pakistan’s continued links to terrorism. The message was conveyed during bilateral talks with Italian Defence Minister Guido Crosetto in New Delhi.
Rajnath Singh Italy Defence Talks
Rajnath Singh and Guido Crosetto held discussions at the Manekshaw Centre, where both sides reviewed the growing India-Italy defence partnership. The talks focused on military cooperation, defence industrial collaboration and possible joint development of advanced defence systems.
India has shown interest in expanding defence ties with Italy, especially in areas involving next-generation military platforms, technology sharing and co-production.
India Raises Pakistan Security Concern
During the talks, Singh reportedly made it clear that sensitive technologies offered to India should not be shared with Pakistan. India’s concern is linked to Pakistan’s record of supporting terrorism and the risk of advanced military technology affecting regional security.
Italy is said to have assured India that certain defence technologies offered to New Delhi would remain exclusive and would not be shared with other countries.
India Italy Defence Cooperation Plan
The two countries also exchanged a bilateral military cooperation plan for 2026-27. The plan is expected to guide future engagements between the armed forces of both countries.
The meeting comes as India and Italy are working to strengthen their strategic partnership across defence, security and industrial cooperation. The visit also follows earlier efforts to rebuild and expand defence ties after past setbacks, with both sides now looking at long-term collaboration in technology, manufacturing and military exchanges.
