NDA Finalises Andhra Rajya Sabha Seat Deal

The NDA has finalised its Rajya Sabha seat-sharing arrangement in Andhra Pradesh, with the Telugu Desam Party set to contest three seats and the Jana Sena Party getting one seat.

Andhra Pradesh Rajya Sabha Seat Sharing

Four Rajya Sabha seats from Andhra Pradesh are set to fall vacant, and the ruling NDA is expected to win all of them due to its strong majority in the State Assembly.

Under the final arrangement, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s TDP will nominate candidates for three seats, while Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan’s Jana Sena Party will get one seat.

TDP To Contest Three Rajya Sabha Seats

The decision gives the TDP the largest share in the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections and reflects its dominant position within the Andhra Pradesh NDA government.

There has been intense lobbying within the TDP for nominations, with several senior leaders and aspirants hoping for a seat in the Upper House. The party leadership is expected to balance loyalty, regional representation, caste equations and political utility while finalising names.

Jana Sena Gets One Rajya Sabha Seat

The Jana Sena Party’s allocation is politically significant as it gives the party an opportunity to strengthen its presence in Parliament. The seat also reflects the role of Pawan Kalyan’s party in the NDA coalition in Andhra Pradesh.

The BJP has not been allotted any of the four seats in the current arrangement. The final list of candidates is expected to be announced ahead of the nomination deadline.
