DU Professor Found Murdered In East Delhi

A Delhi University assistant professor was found murdered inside her flat in East Delhi’s Vasundhara Enclave, prompting police to register a murder case and begin an investigation into the circumstances of her death.

The victim has been identified as Devosmita Paul, an assistant professor at Shivaji College under Delhi University. She was found dead inside her flat at Satyam Apartments in Vasundhara Enclave on Thursday afternoon.

Police received a call around 2.35 pm from her sister, who reported that Paul was lying dead inside the apartment. Police teams reached the spot and started forensic examination.

Paul reportedly lived alone in the flat, while her husband stays in Bengaluru. Her sister reached the apartment after repeated calls went unanswered and found the flat locked from outside.

After the lock was broken, Paul was found inside the apartment. Initial police findings reportedly indicated head injuries and cuts on her wrist. Officials said there were no immediate signs of robbery, and the case is being examined as murder.

Delhi Police Probe Known Attacker Angle

Police are investigating whether the attacker was known to the victim, as there were no clear signs of forced entry or theft. CCTV footage from the apartment complex and nearby areas is being checked.

The incident has shocked residents and the academic community. Police are also speaking to neighbours, family members and possible contacts of the victim to establish the sequence of events and identify the accused.
