DMK To Boycott INDIA Bloc Meeting
The DMK has announced that it will boycott the INDIA bloc meeting scheduled in New Delhi on June 8, citing anger over what it described as Congress betrayal after the Tamil Nadu Assembly election.
DMK Boycotts INDIA Bloc Meeting
The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam said it would not attend the upcoming Opposition alliance meeting because the Congress had acted against the spirit of alliance politics in Tamil Nadu.
The decision comes after the Congress ended its long-standing alliance with the DMK and backed Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam after the Assembly election produced a fractured mandate.
Congress-TVK Alliance Angers DMK
The DMK has accused the Congress of abandoning a trusted ally and supporting TVK for political convenience. The party said its workers were deeply hurt by the Congress decision and that the leadership had to respect their sentiments.
Despite the boycott, the DMK has indicated that it will continue to raise issues related to democracy, federalism and national interest along with other Opposition parties where required.
INDIA Bloc Faces Fresh Unity Test
The boycott is a major setback for the INDIA bloc as it attempts to revive national-level coordination against the BJP. The meeting was expected to bring Opposition parties together after a difficult phase marked by state-level disagreements and alliance tensions.
The DMK’s absence will highlight the growing strain within the Opposition camp and raise fresh questions over whether the alliance can maintain unity while managing conflicting regional interests.
