National Medical Commission Restricts Leave During NEET Re-Exam

The National Medical Commission has asked medical colleges and institutions across India not to grant leave to students during the NEET-UG re-examination period, except in exceptional circumstances. The advisory has been issued ahead of the NEET-UG 2026 re-exam scheduled for June 21.

NEET-UG Re-Exam Leave Restrictions

Medical colleges have been advised not to approve student leave on June 20 and June 21 unless there is a clearly justified exceptional reason. The instruction is aimed at ensuring strict monitoring and preventing any possible malpractice linked to the medical entrance test.

The National Medical Commission said colleges must remain alert and follow all instructions issued by the authorities for the smooth conduct of the re-examination. Institutions have also been told to maintain proper records and ensure compliance during the re-exam period.

NMC Advisory To Medical Colleges

The advisory applies to medical colleges and institutions under the NMC’s jurisdiction. The move comes as part of wider precautionary measures being implemented ahead of the national-level entrance test.

The NEET-UG re-exam has drawn heightened scrutiny after earlier concerns over exam integrity. Authorities are now focusing on tighter supervision, improved coordination and preventive checks to ensure that the examination is conducted fairly.

NEET-UG 2026 Re-Exam Security

The NEET-UG 2026 re-examination will be conducted on June 21 for eligible candidates. The exam is being held under enhanced security and monitoring arrangements.

The decision to restrict leave for medical students reflects the effort to prevent impersonation, paper leak-related activity or any misuse of institutional access. Colleges are expected to cooperate with the authorities and implement the advisory strictly during the specified dates.
