LeT Co-Founder Amir Hamza Shot at in Lahore
Lashkar-e-Taiba co-founder and senior ideologue Amir Hamza was shot at in Lahore on April 16 in what reports describe as the second attack on him within a year. He was reportedly targeted by unidentified gunmen while returning from a local television station and was later taken to hospital.
Amir Hamza Shooting in Lahore
According to the report, Hamza was travelling with a Pakistani judge when two motorcycle-borne attackers opened fire near a stop in Lahore. The shooting has again raised questions around militant rivalries and internal security in Pakistan, especially given Hamza’s long association with Lashkar-e-Taiba and its senior leadership structure.
Lashkar-e-Taiba Leader Targeted Again
This was not the first attempt on Hamza’s life. A similar attack had reportedly taken place in May last year, when he survived after being shot in the waist area. The fresh assault has renewed speculation over factional tensions or internal disputes linked to extremist networks operating in Pakistan. No official public explanation had emerged immediately on the motive behind the latest attack.
Amir Hamza Terror Profile and Background
Amir Hamza has long been identified as one of Lashkar-e-Taiba’s top ideologues and propagandists. He was designated a global terrorist by the United States in 2012. Over the years, he has been linked to the organisation’s publication and outreach activities and has been described as a close associate of Hafiz Saeed and other senior figures in the group. Reports have also linked him to efforts to support Lashkar’s wider network and operational influence.
