Israel Strikes Lebanon Despite Ceasefire
Israeli strikes across Lebanon have killed several people, including civilians, as fresh attacks near Beirut and in southern Lebanon raised new concerns over the fragile ceasefire with Hezbollah.
Israeli Strikes Hit Beirut And South Lebanon
Israeli drone strikes targeted vehicles near Beirut, while separate airstrikes hit areas in southern Lebanon. Lebanese authorities said the attacks killed at least 17 people across the country, including four in strikes near the capital.
In southern Lebanon, strikes were reported in areas including Saksakiyeh, Bourj Rahhal and Maifadoun. Lebanon’s Health Ministry said several civilians were among those killed and injured.
Lebanon Death Toll Rises After Israeli Airstrikes
A strike on Saksakiyeh killed at least seven people, including a child, and injured several others. The Israeli military said the strike targeted Hezbollah militants allegedly planning attacks against Israeli forces, but acknowledged civilian casualties and said the incident was under review.
The latest attacks come despite a US-brokered ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah that has been in place since April.
Israel-Hezbollah Tensions Remain High
Israel has said its operations are aimed at Hezbollah targets and are linked to security threats from across the border. Lebanon has condemned the strikes, accusing Israel of violating the ceasefire and targeting civilians.
The escalation also comes as diplomatic efforts continue, with US-mediated talks between Lebanese and Israeli representatives expected to continue in Washington. The renewed violence has added pressure to an already fragile regional security situation.
