GST Collections Hit ₹1.95 Lakh Crore

India’s gross GST collections rose sharply in June, touching ₹1.95 lakh crore and recording the fastest annual growth in 13 months. The increase was largely driven by a strong rise in tax collections from imports.

India GST Collections Rise In June

Gross Goods and Services Tax collections grew 13.9% year-on-year to ₹1,94,812 crore in June 2026, compared with ₹1,71,105 crore in June 2025.

The June figure marked a strong rebound from May, when GST revenue growth had slowed to 3.2%. It was also the fastest annual expansion since May 2025, when collections had risen 16.4%.

Import GST Revenue Drives Growth

The main boost came from import-related GST revenue, which rose 34.6% year-on-year to ₹60,038 crore. In comparison, domestic gross GST revenue grew at a slower 6.5% to around ₹1.35 lakh crore.

After refunds, net GST revenue increased 11.2% to ₹1.62 lakh crore. Refund payouts also remained high, rising 29.1% to ₹32,436 crore, partly offsetting the gains seen in gross collections.

State-Wise GST Collection Trends

During April-June 2026, gross GST collections rose 8.4% year-on-year to ₹6.32 lakh crore, while net collections increased 7.1% to ₹5.40 lakh crore.

Among major states, Uttar Pradesh recorded the strongest growth at 19%, with collections rising to ₹9,165 crore. Maharashtra remained the largest contributor, with collections rising 9% to ₹30,714 crore. Karnataka posted 10% growth, while Delhi saw an 8% increase.

Some states showed weaker trends, with Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh declining 5%, Tamil Nadu falling 2% and Jharkhand recording a sharper 16% drop.
