Fadnavis Backs Maharashtra FDA Crackdown

Speaking in Mumbai on August 18, Fadnavis said food adulteration and violations of safety standards directly endanger people’s lives and well-being.

The Chief Minister praised the enforcement campaign being carried out by the Maharashtra FDA and said strict action was necessary against businesses that fail to comply with food safety regulations.

He also indicated that the ongoing crackdown would continue as the government seeks stronger enforcement of hygiene and food-quality standards across the state.

Maharashtra FDA Targets Food Safety Violations

The FDA has intensified inspections across Maharashtra, focusing on restaurants, food outlets, warehouses and quick-commerce operations.

Recent enforcement drives have reportedly uncovered problems involving hygiene, pest control, food storage and regulatory compliance. Businesses found violating prescribed standards have faced improvement notices, suspension of licences and other regulatory action.

The campaign has also placed larger food chains and delivery businesses under increased scrutiny.

Food Safety Enforcement to Continue

Fadnavis said the state government would continue supporting strict action against food adulteration and violations that could endanger consumers.

The crackdown is expected to increase pressure on restaurants, warehouses, food-delivery platforms and other businesses to maintain prescribed cleanliness, storage and food-safety standards.

Authorities have indicated that inspections and enforcement measures will continue across Maharashtra as part of the broader effort to strengthen consumer protection.
