Venom 3 Set to Break Box Office Records for Sony’s Spider-Man Spin-Offs
The highly anticipated Venom 3, starring Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock, is poised to set a new benchmark at the box office.
Early forecasts predict that Venom: The Last Dance could achieve the highest opening weekend earnings among all of Sony’s Spider-Man spin-off films, with projections ranging from $80 million to $120 million domestically, according to Boxoffice Pro.
Venom 3 Could Outperform Previous Films
If the film trends toward the upper end of these estimates, The Last Dance could surpass Venom: Let There Be Carnage, which currently holds the record for the best opening weekend among Sony’s Spidey-related films at $90 million. The original Venom debuted with $80.3 million, while other spin-offs like Morbius and Madame Web had much lower starts, with $39 million and $15.3 million, respectively.
Venom Franchise Box Office Performance
Although Venom: Let There Be Carnage had a stronger opening than its predecessor, the total domestic earnings for the two films were nearly identical. The first Venom movie brought in $213.51 million, while Let There Be Carnage made $213.55 million domestically. However, in terms of global box office numbers, the original Venom movie was a clear winner, nearly hitting the billion-dollar mark with $856.1 million worldwide. In contrast, Venom: Let There Be Carnage concluded with a total of $501.5 million globally.
High Expectations for Venom: The Last Dance
Director Kelly Marcel’s Venom 3 is expected to capitalize on the strong fan base and success of its predecessors, making it one of the most anticipated releases of the year. If The Last Dance can maintain momentum throughout its opening weekend and meet or exceed its projected earnings, it could not only secure the top spot among all Spider-Man spin-offs but also position itself as a box office powerhouse for 2024.
The film’s potential to surpass Venom: Let There Be Carnage would mark a significant achievement for Sony’s Spider-Man universe, solidifying Venom as the leading franchise within the studio’s lineup. All eyes will be on Venom: The Last Dance as it hits theaters, with fans eagerly waiting to see if it can set new records and become the highest-grossing Spidey spin-off to date.
