US Lawmaker Urges Pakistan Action On Terror

A U.S. lawmaker has urged Pakistan to take stronger action against terror outfits such as Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed, linking the demand to continued concerns over cross-border militancy affecting India. The remarks were made at an event in Washington marking the anniversary of the 2025 Pahalgam terror attack, where American lawmakers and Indian diplomats highlighted the human cost of terrorism.

U.S. Lawmaker On Pakistan Terror Groups

Congressman Brad Sherman said Pakistan must clamp down on terror organisations such as LeT and JeM, stressing that countries sheltering extremist networks must face pressure to act. He referred to the Pahalgam attack while calling for closer intelligence and counterterror cooperation between India and the United States.

Sherman’s remarks add to a long-running U.S. concern over militant groups that have operated from Pakistani soil and have been linked to attacks targeting India. His statement also reflected a broader message of zero tolerance towards terrorism.

Pahalgam Attack Anniversary In Washington

The comments came during an exhibition organised by the Indian Embassy in Washington on the theme of the human cost of terrorism. The event remembered victims of major terror incidents, including the April 22, 2025 Pahalgam attack, which remained a strong point of discussion during the gathering.

The anniversary event was used to underline the need for international accountability against groups involved in extremist violence. Lawmakers present backed stronger cooperation to counter terror financing, safe havens and ideological support systems.

India US Counterterror Cooperation Focus

The episode highlights the continuing importance of India-U.S. cooperation on counterterror policy. For India, such statements from American lawmakers strengthen diplomatic pressure on Pakistan over militant organisations long accused of targeting Indian interests.

The latest remarks also come at a time when counterterror coordination remains central to wider India-U.S. strategic ties, especially amid renewed focus on regional security and cross-border extremist threats.
