Ukrainian Drone Strikes Kill Seven in Russia and Spark Fire Near Moscow
A wave of Ukrainian drone attacks struck several locations across Russia, killing at least seven people, injuring dozens and triggering a major fire at an oil depot in the Moscow region.
The attacks hit logistics and infrastructure facilities deep inside Russian territory, highlighting Ukraine’s expanding use of long-range drones against targets far from the front line.
Warehouse Strike Kills Seven Workers
The deadliest attack occurred in Russia’s Tambov region, where drones struck a warehouse operated by online retailer Wildberries.
Regional authorities said seven night-shift workers were killed and around 25 others were injured. Emergency crews were deployed to the site as rescue operations continued and damage to the facility was assessed.
Russian officials said several other drones were intercepted before reaching their intended targets.
Oil Depot Fire Near Moscow
A separate drone attack sparked a fire at an oil depot in Noginsk, east of Moscow. Two people were reported injured, while a nearby maternity hospital was evacuated as a precaution.
Firefighters worked to contain the blaze as authorities introduced temporary safety measures in the surrounding area.
Additional drone incidents were reported elsewhere in the Moscow region, including damage to another logistics facility.
Ukraine Defends Infrastructure Strikes
Ukraine said the operation targeted logistics sites allegedly connected to the supply of components and navigation equipment used in Russian drone production.
The attacks came as both countries intensified long-range strikes against military, energy and transport infrastructure. Russia said a large number of Ukrainian drones were intercepted across several regions.
The growing frequency of attacks inside Russia has demonstrated Ukraine’s increasing ability to strike targets hundreds of kilometres beyond the battlefield, while also raising concerns about civilian casualties and further escalation of the conflict.
