Ukraine Drones Hit Russian Oil Sites

Ukrainian drones carried out a major overnight strike on Russian energy and transport infrastructure, hitting oil refineries, tankers and pipeline facilities, officials from both sides said.

Ukrainian Drones Hit Russian Refineries

Ukraine said its drones struck three Russian oil refineries, including facilities in Tatarstan’s Nizhnekamsk and Saratov, along with a military airbase in the Voronezh region.

Russian officials confirmed drone strikes in several regions but did not fully specify all targets. Russia’s Defence Ministry said its air defences had downed hundreds of drones during the overnight attack.

The scale and exact extent of damage at the refinery sites were not immediately clear.

Oil Tankers Damaged In Sea Of Azov

Ukraine also said it had targeted oil tankers in the Sea of Azov, a key maritime route used by Russia for supplies to Crimea and other occupied areas in southern Ukraine.

A Russian regional governor said two empty oil tankers were damaged in the strikes and two people were wounded. Ukraine, however, claimed a larger number of tankers had been hit.

The Sea of Azov has remained strategically important throughout the war because of its role in Russian military and logistics operations.

Russia Energy Infrastructure Under Pressure

Russian regional officials reported casualties and damage to industrial and infrastructure sites following the drone attacks. In Saratov, one person was reported killed and several others injured.

The latest strikes come as Ukraine expands its long-range drone campaign against Russian refineries, fuel depots and energy infrastructure.

Russia has also continued attacks on Ukrainian energy facilities, deepening the infrastructure war between the two countries as the conflict enters its fifth year.
