Trump Threatens Iran Infrastructure Strikes
US President Donald Trump has threatened further military action against Iran, including possible strikes on civilian infrastructure and the seizure of Kharg Island, as the ceasefire understanding between Washington and Tehran appeared to collapse.
Trump Threatens Iran Infrastructure Strikes
Trump said the United States was preparing for a second night of strikes against Iran after attacks on American military sites in the Gulf.
He warned that the US could target key Iranian infrastructure, including power and desalination facilities, marking a sharp escalation in rhetoric after the latest round of hostilities.
The remarks came as Washington accused Tehran of undermining the ceasefire arrangement through renewed attacks, while Iran accused the US of aggression and warned of retaliation.
Kharg Island Threat Raises Tensions
Trump also said the US could seize Kharg Island, one of Iran’s most important oil export hubs. He claimed there was little Iran could do if Washington decided to act.
Kharg Island is strategically significant because of its role in Iran’s petroleum export infrastructure. Any military action around the island could affect oil shipments, regional security and global energy markets.
The threat adds another flashpoint to the crisis, with Gulf shipping, energy infrastructure and US military sites all under heightened risk.
US Iran Ceasefire Unravels
The latest comments follow renewed US strikes on Iranian targets and fresh Iranian attacks on American positions in the region. Trump said the ceasefire was no longer holding and signalled that Washington could continue military action.
The escalation has increased fears of a wider conflict in the Middle East, particularly around the Strait of Hormuz and nearby oil infrastructure.
Diplomatic efforts remain under pressure as both sides exchange warnings, military action and accusations.
