Trump Warns Iran Over US Deal

US President Donald Trump has warned that Washington will respond if Iran fails to comply with its interim agreement with the United States, as questions remain over the implementation of the deal and the use of unfrozen Iranian funds.

Trump Warns Iran Over US Deal

Trump said he would “do what I have to do” if Iran does not follow the terms of its agreement with Washington or fails to behave in line with the understanding reached between the two sides.

The warning came after the US and Iran signed an interim agreement last week following months of conflict involving US-Israeli strikes on Iran and Iranian retaliatory attacks on Israel and Gulf states hosting US bases.

Iran Funds And Food Purchases

Trump also claimed that money being unfrozen under the agreement would be used by Iran to buy food from the United States. He said the purchases would support American farmers while helping Iran address food shortages.

However, Iranian officials have disputed the claim that Tehran is required to buy food exclusively from the US. Iran has maintained that it is not bound by such a condition and can use released funds for permitted non-sanctioned purchases.

US-Iran Agreement Faces Scrutiny

The interim US-Iran deal is being closely watched by regional governments and global markets because of its potential impact on energy supplies, shipping routes and wider Middle East security.

The conflict had pushed oil prices higher and disrupted investor confidence, while also raising fears over the Strait of Hormuz and maritime movement in the Gulf. The latest warning from Trump signals that Washington is keeping pressure on Tehran even as both sides move forward with the agreement.
