Trump Thanks Pakistan, Qatar On Iran Deal
US President Donald Trump thanked Pakistan and Qatar for their mediation role around the proposed US-Iran memorandum of understanding, while also acknowledging Gulf states for helping push regional de-escalation efforts.
Trump Thanks Pakistan And Qatar
Trump praised Pakistan and Qatar for their involvement in mediation linked to the US-Iran understanding. He said regional partners had played an important role in creating diplomatic space for talks after days of heightened military tension.
Pakistan has been mentioned as one of the intermediaries in communication between Washington and Tehran, while Qatar has remained a key Gulf diplomatic channel in recent West Asia negotiations. Trump’s remarks placed both countries at the centre of efforts to move the conflict toward a temporary arrangement.
UAE Role In Iran Talks
Trump also acknowledged Gulf countries, including the United Arab Emirates, for their role in the wider regional push. Referring to UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Trump described him as a strong regional figure and praised the UAE’s role during the conflict.
His comments came as Gulf states are expected to be involved in future discussions on issues beyond Iran’s nuclear programme. These include Iran’s ballistic missile capabilities, support for regional proxy groups and maritime security in the Gulf.
US Iran Deal Faces Wider Talks
The proposed US-Iran memorandum is expected to focus first on preventing further escalation and creating a temporary diplomatic framework. However, Trump made clear that future talks would also cover wider regional security issues.
The inclusion of Gulf states in non-nuclear discussions signals that Washington wants regional partners involved in shaping the next phase of negotiations. The outcome may affect sanctions relief, security guarantees, shipping routes and the broader balance of power in West Asia.
