Trump Offers Mediation as India-Pakistan Tensions Mount After Operation Sindoor

As tensions continue to rise between India and Pakistan following India’s precision airstrikes under Operation Sindoor, former U.S. President Donald Trump has stepped in with an offer to mediate. Speaking to reporters, Trump expressed concern over the developing conflict and said he would be willing to help if either side sought his involvement.

“I want to see them work it out. I want to see them stop and hopefully they can stop now. If I can do anything to help, I will be there,” Trump said, signaling his readiness to act as a peacemaker amid fears of escalation between the nuclear-armed neighbors.

The mediation offer comes in the aftermath of India’s retaliatory strikes on nine terror camps located in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, launched in response to the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam that claimed 26 lives. India maintains the operation was targeted solely at terror infrastructure and was non-escalatory.

Pakistan Claims Civilian Casualties, Responds with Force

Pakistan has condemned the strikes as a blatant violation and claimed that civilian areas, including mosques and residential quarters, were among the targets. It has reported dozens of casualties and authorized military retaliation, including claims of shooting down Indian aircraft—claims that remain unverified by Indian authorities.

The situation on the ground has deteriorated further with intense shelling across the Line of Control, leading to additional civilian casualties on both sides. Military activity has surged and both nations remain on high alert.

Global Community Urges Restraint

Trump’s remarks mirror the larger concerns shared by the global community, with major powers including the United Nations, United States, China, and Russia urging both India and Pakistan to de-escalate and pursue diplomatic channels.

Although India has consistently rejected third-party mediation in bilateral matters with Pakistan—especially those concerning terrorism and territorial sovereignty—Trump’s offer reflects the rising international alarm over the possibility of a broader military conflict in South Asia.
