Ukrainian drone strikes hit oil infrastructure in southern Russia overnight, damaging facilities in Taganrog and Armavir as the war’s energy front widened again.

Ukrainian Drone Strikes In Russia

Russian regional officials and Ukrainian military sources said drones targeted oil-related sites in southern Russia. In Taganrog, fires were reported on a tanker and at the port before being extinguished.

Rostov regional governor Yury Slyusar said two people were injured in the Taganrog attack and no oil spill was reported. The city’s local emergency measures were also extended after the strike.

Russian Oil Depot Hit In Armavir

Authorities in Krasnodar region said an oil depot in Armavir’s industrial zone was also hit. Officials said the fire was brought under control and no injuries were reported there.

Russia’s Defence Ministry said air defence forces downed 127 drones overnight. Slyusar said nearly 50 drones were intercepted over Rostov region alone, where attacks were reported across the province bordering Ukraine’s Donbas region.

Ukraine Confirms Oil Facility Strike

Ukraine’s drone forces said they had struck Taganrog and also targeted an oil depot in Feodosiya in Russian-controlled Crimea. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed the strike on the Armavir oil facility, located around 500 km from Ukraine’s border.

The attacks underline Kyiv’s continuing strategy of targeting Russia’s fuel, logistics and energy infrastructure as Moscow continues its military campaign in Ukraine.
