Trump Dinner Shooting Suspect Charged

A 31-year-old California man has been charged with attempting to assassinate US President Donald Trump after allegedly trying to breach security at the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner in Washington.

Trump Assassination Attempt Charge Filed

Federal authorities identified the suspect as Cole Tomas Allen of Torrance, California. Prosecutors said he tried to storm a security checkpoint at the Washington Hilton, where Trump, senior officials, journalists and guests had gathered for the annual dinner.

Allen has been charged with attempting to assassinate the President, along with federal firearms offences. If convicted, he could face a life sentence.

White House Dinner Security Breach

According to investigators, Allen had travelled from California to Washington before the event and booked a room at the hotel hosting the dinner. Officials said he was armed with a 12-gauge shotgun and a semi-automatic pistol during the incident.

The attempted breach triggered a major security response. Trump was evacuated from the venue and was not injured. A Secret Service officer was reportedly shot but survived because of a bullet-resistant vest.

FBI Investigates Washington Hilton Attack

Investigators are examining whether the attack was planned in advance. Court filings indicate that Allen had allegedly sent a message before the incident expressing grievances against Trump and his administration.

The case has renewed concerns over political violence and the security risks surrounding high-profile public events in the United States. Allen has been ordered to remain in custody while further court proceedings continue.
