Trump Delays Final Decision On Iran Deal

US President Donald Trump has delayed a final decision on a proposed agreement with Iran, even as Tehran rejected several claims made by Washington about the draft deal. The development highlights continuing differences between the two sides over nuclear issues, the Strait of Hormuz and frozen Iranian assets.

Trump Iran Deal Decision Delayed

Trump said he would meet his national security team before making a final determination on a possible agreement with Iran. However, no final decision was announced after the meeting. The proposed arrangement is reportedly linked to a wider effort to extend the ceasefire and open further talks on Iran’s nuclear programme.

Washington has said any agreement must ensure that Iran never obtains a nuclear weapon. Trump also referred to conditions involving the Strait of Hormuz, naval mines and Iran’s enriched uranium stockpiles.

Iran Rejects US Claims On Draft Agreement

Iran has pushed back against parts of Trump’s description of the proposed deal. Iranian sources said the draft agreement remains under internal review and has not yet been formally approved.

Tehran also denied that the draft includes demands to remove Iran’s nuclear materials or keep the Strait of Hormuz open without conditions. Iranian officials said discussions on uranium enrichment and enriched uranium have not reached the detailed stage.

Strait Of Hormuz Tensions Continue

The Strait of Hormuz remains a central point of tension between the US and Iran. Washington has warned that vessels involved in laying or supporting naval mines could be treated as military targets.

Iran has maintained that it has a recognized role in overseeing navigation through the waterway, along with Oman. Tehran has also reportedly demanded the release of $12 billion in frozen Iranian assets before moving to the next phase of talks.
