Stalin Slams Vijay Over DMK MLA Arrest
DMK president and former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has criticised Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay after DMK MLA and former minister Anitha R. Radhakrishnan was arrested over alleged defamatory remarks against the Chief Minister.
Stalin Slams Vijay Government Over Arrest
Stalin accused the Vijay-led government of running a “police regime” and said the arrest reflected an oppressive style of administration. He alleged that the government was using police action to silence political criticism instead of responding democratically.
The DMK leader said the arrest of Radhakrishnan showed that the ruling establishment was unwilling to tolerate opposition voices. He also compared the style of governance to action cinema, taking a swipe at Vijay’s film background.
Anitha Radhakrishnan Arrest Case
Anitha R. Radhakrishnan, a DMK MLA and former minister, was arrested after the Madras High Court rejected his anticipatory bail plea. The case relates to remarks allegedly made by him against Chief Minister Vijay during a political event.
Police action followed complaints that the remarks were defamatory and inflammatory. The arrest has triggered a strong response from the DMK, which has accused the state government of misusing law enforcement agencies for political purposes.
Tamil Nadu Political Tensions Rise
The arrest has added to growing political tensions between the ruling TVK government and the opposition DMK. Stalin said dissent and criticism are part of democracy and should not be treated as criminal conduct.
The controversy is likely to intensify the political battle in Tamil Nadu, where the DMK has repeatedly accused the Vijay government of targeting opposition leaders, while the ruling side has maintained that action is being taken according to law.
