Russian Envoy Praises Modi-Xi Meeting, Urges Strong India-China Relations
Russian Ambassador Denis Alipov welcomed the recent meeting between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping, held on the sidelines of the BRICS summit in Kazan.
He emphasized that stable and good relations between India and China are crucial for Eurasian security and global development.
Russia Supports India-China Agreement
Alipov hailed the border agreement and disengagement along the Line of Actual Control (LAC), reached during the Modi-Xi talks. He stressed the importance of the two nations working together, saying, “It is desirable that India and China maintain stable relations, as it benefits not just Eurasia but the world at large.”
The envoy underscored Russia’s non-involvement in the bilateral meeting but expressed Moscow’s happiness over the talks, which marked the first high-level interaction between India and China in five years.
BRICS Summit Success
Alipov described the BRICS summit in Kazan as a “total success,” highlighting the bloc’s inclusive approach and its role in promoting global governance reform. He also touched upon BRICS’ new cross-border payment system and currency arrangements, which aim to help members manage short-term deficits.
He cautioned against U.S. sanctions, warning that other BRICS nations, like India or China, could be future targets. He also stressed efforts to establish a direct trade payment system between India and Russia in roubles and rupees.
