Russia Assures India On Energy Supplies
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has said Moscow will fulfil all energy supply agreements with India, assuring that New Delhi’s interests will not suffer despite external pressure and rising competition in global energy markets.
Russia India Energy Supply Agreements
Lavrov said Russia would continue to honour its commitments to India in the energy sector and would do everything necessary to ensure that existing agreements are not affected by what he described as “unfair and dishonest competition.”
His remarks come at a time when India is working to protect energy security amid global instability, high fuel demand and pressure on supply chains. Russia remains a key energy partner for India, particularly in crude oil and nuclear cooperation.
Lavrov Highlights India Russia Relations
The Russian Foreign Minister described India-Russia ties as strong and rooted in long-standing friendship. He said there was no situation in which the two countries would move away from each other, underlining Moscow’s confidence in the strategic partnership.
Lavrov also praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership and said both sides continue to maintain close cooperation across energy, defence, technology and diplomatic platforms.
Kudankulam Nuclear Project In Focus
Lavrov referred to the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant as a flagship project of India-Russia cooperation. The plant remains one of the most important symbols of civil nuclear collaboration between the two countries.
The assurance is significant as India seeks stable energy sources while balancing relations with major global powers. Russia’s statement indicates that Moscow wants to retain its role as a dependable long-term supplier for India despite geopolitical challenges.
